Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.general,comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.storage () I have a disk drive (Maxtor 80GB) that seems to have a bad partition table and I cannot read it at all. Probably, Partition Magic (v4.0) messed it up (I had a dual boot Win98/WinNT and the partitions were FAT32 or NTFS). Now, Partition Magic only says that partition table is bad. I ran across the software called Partition Table Doctor and I plan to get it soon unless there are some better software. I would like to start with the best so that I do not make the problem any worse. Do you know of any good software to fix partition table reliably?

I ran it and this PTedit does not find my corrupted drive at all. It displays only one drive (my main drive that is OK) in its drop-down selection list. The corrupted drive is on the second EIDE bus, it is shown during booting and the old Partition Magic v4.0 has to know about it because it complains about bad partition table unless I disconnect the corrupted drive.
